Drawing on the rich visual language of traditional tattoo art, Poison Bottle uses beauty and danger through the pairing of a poison bottle and flourishing red roses. The delicate flowers soften the ominous presence of the skull and crossbones, creating a tension between attraction and warning, romance and risk.
Hand-painted in reverse on glass and presented within a deep box frame, the artwork uses layered construction to create a striking sense of depth. The painted imagery sits on the front glass panel, while the dark glitter backing board is recessed behind it, allowing the bottle and roses to appear suspended within the frame. This subtle separation of layers enhances the reflective qualities of the glass and gives the piece a sculptural presence that shifts with changing light.
