Inspired by the bold symbolism of traditional maritime tattoo art, Anchor explores themes of love, loyalty, and resilience. The anchor, long associated with stability and safe passage, is paired with a fractured heart—suggesting the enduring strength required to weather life's storms and emerge stronger on the other side.
Hand-painted in reverse on glass and presented within a deep box frame, the artwork uses layered construction to create a distinctive sense of depth. The painted design is applied directly to the front glass panel, while the dark glitter backing board is recessed behind it. This separation allows the anchor to appear suspended within the frame, giving the piece a subtle three-dimensional quality that changes as light moves across the reflective surface.
Created using traditional reverse glass signwriting techniques, Anchor combines vibrant colour, crisp linework, and meticulous hand-painted detail, the work reimagines classic tattoo imagery through the unique visual qualities of painted glass.
